AUGUST 2016 – ENGINEERING REDEFINED

LASSONDE STUDIOS

The University of Utah’s newest building opens this fall. The Lassonde Studios feature 27,000 square feet of student “garage” work space  on the ground floor level where any student on campus can build a prototype, attend an event or launch a company. On the four levels above, 400 students  have multiple living options, ranging from large lofts for groups to private “pods” for individuals.

The mechanical systems are flexible, and designed to accommodate any variety of live-work configurations that students and their advisors can come up with, while still meeting the University’s stringent energy and maintainability requirements.
