Weber State University has completed an expansion to the Stromberg Center. The expansion houses the Campus Recreation department, and features fitness opportunities for students and faculty.
Colvin Engineering designed the HVAC system with a custom air handler that connects to the campus steam and chilled water distribution system. Energy consumption is minimized with demand controlled ventilation that uses measures CO2 levels to optimize the outdoor air ventilation rate.
At the same time, the existing gym was upgraded with a new elevated track at 15 feet above floor level, and the existing HVAC system was revised to accommodate runners at the elevated level while avoiding temperature stratification.
